Many properties and office buildings do not have an elevator, which makes moving house much more challenging if you don’t have the right equipment. The lift, large or small, in fact facilitates the transport of furniture, heavy objects and boxes: without this help, transferring one’s goods to the upper floors can become a business, especially if we go up beyond the second floor. The proportion is easy to say: the more steps we have to face, the greater the effort to reach our destination. So what are the alternatives that are presented to those who need to move house without a lift? If we take the do-it-yourself option for granted, assuming you have the means for such a choice, there are three ways to go for a move without a lift. Let’s see them in detail.

1) THE MOVE WITH QUALIFIED MOVERS

The first scenario, that of moving from inside with the help of a specialized company, is foreseen when, for whatever reason, it is not possible to use a truck or other vehicle with an aerial platform. This may be the case, for example, of houses located in alleys that are too narrow, or inside enclosed courtyards and squares where a lorry would not be able to pass. Here the only solution is to do it the old-fashioned way, carrying boxes and cartons by handand with the aid of forklift trucks (the same ones used to move the crates of water and soft drinks). The team should be made up of at least two people, both to manage the move of the bulkier appliances and furniture (some of which, given their weight and size, require two people), and to shorten the time and cause as little disturbance as possible to neighbors and passers-by. 2) MOVING WITH A PLATFORM FROM THE OUTSIDE

If space and access to the house allow it, we can make use of the classic area platform installed on a truck, spider, or other type of vehicle. An indispensable requirement, if the property is not located in a private area, is to request (and obtain) a permit to occupy public land. The permit must be requested from the municipality where the address of the building where the house will be moved is located, and provides for a minimum occupancy time along the road or in the square. 3) MOVING WITH THE PIANOPLAN STAIRCASE

In the absence of a lift we can also opt for a third way, that of using special machinery capable of going up the stairs carrying heavy furniture such as pianos, safes, but also household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, etc.
